Jackson Leads Bison Women on First Day of California Invitational Heptathlon

AZUSA, Calif. – North Dakota State freshman Rose Jackson scored 2,802 points on the first day of the California Invitational heptathlon to lead the NDSU women's track & field team on Wednesday, Apr. 16.
 
Jackson stands in 22nd place out of 49 competitors through the first four events. The California Invitational is the nation's largest multi-events meet.
 
The freshman from Willmar, Minn., opened with season-best performances in the 100m hurdles (16.11) and high jump (5-01.75). Jackson ran 24.87 seconds in the 200m for the fastest time among all competitors.
 
Junior Ashley Heinze is in 25th place with 2,785 points – the highest first-day total of her career. NDSU freshman Deidre Hahn stands in 32nd place with 2,615 points, and sophomore Ann Govig is in 38th place with 2,459 points.
 
The heptathlon will conclude on Thursday, Apr. 17, at Azusa Pacific.
