Goodman, Stratioti, Kruchowski Take Titles on First Day at Howard Wood

Results

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Antoinette Goodman, Paige Stratioti and Faith Kruchowski each won events for the North Dakota State women's track & field team on the first day of the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Friday, May 2.

Goodman, a senior sprinter from Burnsville, Minn., ran a wind-aided 22.83 seconds to win the 200m dash. With a tailwind measured at 4.8 meters per second, Goodman's time won't count toward records or national performance lists, but it would have destroyed her previous 200m school record of 23.40 seconds and tied her for fifth in the nation this season.

Stratioti claimed the 400m dash title in 54.35 seconds, marking the fourth-fastest time of her career in the event. Kruchowski won the 800m in 2:09.09, missing a personal-best performance by just two-hundredths of a second. Junior Ashlynn Simon was the runner-up to Kruchowski in the 800m with a time of 2:13.50, and freshman Jenny Guibert was fifth in 2:15.89.

Senior Ashley Tingelstad also posted a great 200m performance, finishing in a wind-aided 23.26 seconds – a time that would have also broken Goodman's school record with a legal wind. Freshman Morgan Milbrath had a wind-aided 23.62 for third place to sweep the top three spots for the Bison in the 200m.

Bison freshman Taylor Janssen was the runner-up in the 3,000m steeplechase in 11:18.55.

NDSU will continue to compete at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays tomorrow, in addition to competing at the Ron Masanz Classic hosted by MSU Moorhead.
