ORONO, Maine – The North Dakota State University women's soccer team (4-2) suffered a 1-0 loss to the University of Maine (2-5) Black Bears Friday afternoon, Sept. 12, at Alumni Field.
The Black Bears' Marie-Pier Gougeon broke a scoreless draw between the two teams in the 78th-minute after she scored what ended up being the game-winning-goal on a cross from teammate Jordan Pellerin.
The Bison nearly equalized in the 82nd-minute, but
Lauren Miller's shot was saved by Maine goalkeeper Claudia Dube-Trempe, preserving the 1-0 win for the Black Bears and dealing NDSU its second consecutive defeat.
NDSU was outshot by Maine in the match, 13-7, and was held to just one corner kick compared to eight for the home side.

Sierra Bonham made three saves between the pipes but suffered the loss to drop to 4-2 on the season.
Dube-Trempe collected three saves in the match for the Black Bears to improve her record in goal to 2-1.
North Dakota State is scheduled to return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 14, when it travels to Worcester, Mass., for a 1 p.m. ET (Noon CT) non-league match against the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders.
