Bison Drop Match at Drake Sunday, 3-0

DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota State University women's soccer team (4-5) dropped its fifth consecutive match Sunday afternoon, Sept. 21, at Drake (5-5), 3-0.

The Bison fell behind early, 1-0, after Drake netted a goal in the 19th minute on a strike from Rachel Wanninger. The Bulldogs built their lead to 2-0 less than 10 minutes later after Maddie Nelson netted a goal. Drake added an insurance goal in the 74th minute to seal the 3-0 victory.

The Bison outshot Drake in the match, 17-10, but had seven shots saved by Drake goalkeeper Kylynn Moyer. NDSU also took three corner kicks compared to one for the Bulldogs.

NDSU's Lauren Miller and Anisha Kinnarath took a game-high three shots each, while Bison goalkeeper Sierra Bonham posted two saves but took the loss to fall to 4-5 in goal on the season.  

Bulldog goaltender Moyer picked up the win to move to 5-4 overall.

North Dakota State is scheduled to host Western Illinois in its Summit League opener on Friday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. at Dacotah Field.
