PDF Box ScoreVERMILLION, S.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team fell in a Summit League road game at South Dakota, 71-67, on Wednesday evening inside the DakotaDome.

The Bison held a 63-62 lead with 2:01 remaining in the game after a dunk by
Kory Brown, but South Dakota outscored NDSU 9-4 over the final two minutes. The Coyotes took the lead at 65-63 on a putback by Tyler Larson with 1:00 left and then went a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line in the last 37 seconds.

NDSU had two chances to tie in the game's final 30 seconds, but a
Lawrence Alexander shot rimmed out and the Bison were ruled out of bounds for a turnover with 13 seconds remaining.

NDSU (11-6, 3-1 Summit League) was led by 20 points from Alexander, the league's scoring leader. Brown scored 15 points, and
Carlin Dupree added 12 for NDSU.
The Bison drop into a three-way tie atop the league with Oral Roberts and South Dakota, with all three schools at 3-1 through four games.

South Dakota (9-9, 3-1 Summit) got 18 points from Casey Kasperbauer on 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range.

Dupree, Brown and
Dexter Werner each grabbed seven rebounds.

The Bison shot 44 percent for the game, outpacing the 38-percent shooting effort by the Coyotes. NDSU posted a 38-24 margin in points in the paint.

The Bison jumped out to an 8-0 lead less than three minutes into the game, but USD fought back to tie it up at 16-16 on a trey by Casey Kasperbauer with 9:29 left in the half. The Coyotes held a 30-26 advantage at halftime.

NDSU returns home to host Western Illinois on Friday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. at Scheels Arena.
