BROOKINGS, S.D. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team (9-12, 5-4 Summit League) fell at South Dakota State (15-7, 6-3 Summit League), 82-52, on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Frost Arena in front of 3,840 spectators.

Brooke LeMar led the Bison in scoring with 14 points, while Holly Johnson added 13 points and a team-high six rebounds. Marena Whittle posted a team-high three steals. Taylor Thunstedt, who made her first collegiate start in the game, tallied nine points and recorded three assists.

North Dakota State shot 33 percent from the field, going 21-of-64, and were only 17 percent from three-point range, making three out of 18 attempts.

The Bison struggled rebounding the basketball in the game, snagging only 32 boards compared to 54 for South Dakota State.

South Dakota State was paced by four players in double figures, led by Mariah Clarin, who tallied a double-double with a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds. Megan Waytashek added 17, and Kerri Young and Macy Miller each posted 13.

The Jacks went 32-of-69 from the field for 46 percent and 4-for-16 from beyond-the-arc for 25 percent. SDSU made 14 of 21 free-throw attempts for 67 percent.

South Dakota State outscored the Bison in the paint, 54-24, and snagged 14 offensive rebounds that led to 18 second chance points.

North Dakota State returns to action on Friday, Feb. 6, when it hosts Western Illinois in a Summit League game at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
