FARGO, N.D. – Lauren Miller netted her team and Summit League-high eighth goal of the season to help the North Dakota State University women's soccer team (6-5-0, 1-0-0 Summit League) defeat the Omaha Mavericks (3-6-2, 0-1-0 Summit League), 1-0, in the 2015 Summit League opener on a brisk Friday evening, Oct. 2, at Dacotah Field.

The Bison are scheduled to host the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. in a Summit League match.

Miller, a 5-foot-9 junior forward from Saint Louis Park, Minn., put NDSU ahead, 1-0, with a strike in the 60th-minute off a sequence of one-touch passes from junior Amy Yang and sophomore Brittany Mueller.

The Bison defense preserved the lead, holding the Mavericks scoreless the remaining 30 minutes to seal the win.

For the match, North Dakota State outshot Omaha, 17-11, and tallied a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

Bison senior goalkeeper Sierra Bonham picked up her sixth win and third shutout of the season after allowing no goals and making four saves in 90 minutes in goal. Bonham is now 6-5-0 overall.

Omaha was paced by senior Hannah Wampler with three shots and one shot on goal.

Maverick goalkeeper Katlyn Schochenmaier posted a match-high six saves, but suffered the loss after surrendering the game-winning goal to fall to 3-4-1 on the season.
