FARGO, N.D. – Sophomore A.J. Jacobson scored 17 points and dished out four assists to help the North Dakota State men's basketball team to a 73-53 win over Montana on Wednesday night at Scheels Arena.
 
NDSU (3-1 overall) extended its home winning streak to 27 games – tied for the fifth-longest active streak in the nation. Montana entered the game ranked No. 21 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll.
 
The Bison trailed 23-11 just over midway through the first half, but NDSU outscored Montana 62-30 over the final 29 minutes of the contest.
 
NDSU used a 15-0 run over a seven-minute stretch late in the first half to take a 26-23 lead, and the Bison never trailed again.
 
Leading 36-30 with slightly under 14 minutes to play, the Bison scored nine points over three consecutive possessions to put the game out of reach. Paul Miller drained a three-pointer, and Malik Clements and Jacobson both converted traditional three-point plays to make it a 45-32 NDSU advantage.
 
Senior forward Martin Breunig posted a game-high 28 points and 12 rebounds for Montana (2-2 overall).
 
Paul Miller finished with 15 points, five boards and four steals for NDSU, and junior guard Carlin Dupree scored 13 points. Freshman point guard Khy Kabellis led the Bison with six rebounds. Freshman forward Dylan Miller provided 13 valuable minutes off the NDSU bench with Chris Kading in foul trouble.
 
NDSU committed only seven turnovers in the game while forcing the Griz into 17. The Bison posted a 24-6 edge in points on turnovers.
 
Montana won 20 games on the way to a Big Sky Conference regular season title last season and was voted as the preseason favorite to win the conference by the league's media this year.
 
NDSU hosts North Carolina A&T on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m.
