SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The North Dakota State University women's basketball team fell to the San Diego State University Aztecs, 64-54, in the San Diego State Thanksgiving Classic on Friday, Nov. 27, on Steve Fisher Court at Viejas Arena.
Taylor Thunstedt led the Bison (2-3 overall) in scoring with 18 points, while
Brianna Jones posted a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Emily Spier and
Marena Whittle rounded out the double-figure scoring for NDSU with 10 points each.
With the game tied and 6:37 to go in the second quarter, San Diego State (1-4 overall) went on a 9-0 run to gain a 31-22 lead with 1:33 remaining in the stanza. NDSU would get no closer than five the remainder of the game.
North Dakota State shot 40 percent from the floor in the game, making 21 of 53 attempts, but failed to convert a three-pointer, going 0-for-10.
The Bison outrebounded the Aztecs, 35-30, and tallied a 34-32 edge in points in the paint but committed 22 turnovers which led to 26 San Diego State points in the contest.
McKynzie Fort led San Diego State with a game-high 20 points on 10-for-12 shooting.
North Dakota State is scheduled to face Delaware on Sunday, Nov. 29, at noon PT (2 p.m. CT) to close out play in the SDSU Thanksgiving Classic.
