Bison Look to Extend Home Court Win Streak vs. Montana State Wednesday

Wednesday's Game: The North Dakota State men's basketball team (6-3 overall) hosts Montana State (5-4) on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. inside Scheels Arena. It will be the first home game for NDSU since Nov. 28, ending a stretch of four straight road contests at Iowa State, Arkansas State, Southern Miss and North Dakota.

About Montana State: Montana State is 5-4 this season and 4-2 in its last six games leading into Wednesday's meeting with NDSU. The Bobcats were picked 11th in the Big Sky Conference preseason poll after going 7-23 overall and 4-14 in league play last season.
                Senior guard Marcus Colbert leads Montana State in scoring with 18.4 points per game, as well as averaging 4.7 assists. Freshman Tyler Hall is averaging 17.1 points and 5.2 rebounds for the Bobcats. As a team, Montana State ranks among the top 50 in the nation with 9.3 three-pointers per game and 40-percent accuracy from beyond the arc.
                The Bobcats rank 328th in the nation with 82.5 points allowed per game.
 
The Series vs. Montana State: Montana State holds an 11-6 lead in the all-time series with NDSU. The Bison posted a 72-51 victory in Bozeman on Nov. 30 of last season.
                NDSU is 2-0 against members of the Big Sky Conference this season with wins over Montana (73-53) and North Dakota (69-67). The Bison will also take on Big Sky member Idaho State in Logan, Utah, on Dec. 21.
 
Last Year: Senior guard Lawrence Alexander led the Bison with 18 points, and A.J. Jacobson poured in 15 points on five three-pointers to carry NDSU to a 72-51 win at Montana State on Nov. 30 last season. All five NDSU starters scored in double-digits, as Chris Kading had 13, Kory Brown netted 11, and Carlin Dupree tallied 10 points.
                NDSU shot 50 percent for the game and made 11-of-23 shots for a 48-percent effort from three-point range. The Bison dominated the rebounding battle with a 40-26 advantage and committed just six turnovers.
 
Home Court:  With 28 straight home wins, the Bison are tied with Old Dominion for the fifth-longest active home court winning streak in the nation. NDSU is 41-2 at home since the start of the 2012-13 season, with the only two losses being to Southern Miss (70-69) on Nov. 18, 2013, and Western Illinois (49-36) on Feb. 14, 2013.
 
First Career Start: Freshman forward Dylan Miller (Panama, Ill./Hillsboro HS) made his first career start at North Dakota on Dec. 11.
 
Scorer: Sophomore guard Paul Miller ranks second in The Summit League and 78th in all of Division I with 18.2 points per game this season. With 164 total points through nine contests this season, Miller has already matched 77 percent of his total scoring output (214 points) as a freshman.
 
Another Comeback Win: NDSU trailed 40-25 with 18 minutes remaining at North Dakota on Dec. 11, but the Bison rallied for a 69-67 comeback victory. NDSU used a 22-6 run that lasted more than eight minutes to erase the deficit.
 
Breakout Game: Freshman guard Khy Kabellis came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including a 4-for-5 effort from beyond the arc, to lift the Bison to a 69-67 come-from-behind win at North Dakota.
 
Small Lineup: NDSU head coach David Richman went to a 'small' lineup in the second half against North Dakota, playing Khy Kabellis (6-3), Malik Clements (6-3), Kory Brown (6-4), Paul Miller (6-5) and A.J. Jacobson (6-6). That combination spent nearly eight minutes on the floor together in the game, outscoring North Dakota 17-6 in that time.
 
Game-Winner: Paul Miller scored 23 points including the game-winning three-pointer with 3.3 seconds remaining to lift the Bison to a come-from-behind road victory over Arkansas State, 74-73, on Dec. 4. NDSU trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half. Arkansas State led 67-56 with six minutes remaining in the game and still held an eight-point advantage at 69-61 with 2:30 left.
 
Double-Doubles: Miller recorded his first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds at No. 5-ranked Iowa State on Dec. 1. He became the third Bison with a double-double this season, as senior Kory Brown and junior Dexter Werner both posted double-doubles in the season opener at UC Davis on Nov. 13.
 
Take Care: The Bison rank 11th in the nation for fewest turnovers per game with 10.0 this season.
 
Turnover Advantage: The Bison have had a significant advantage in the turnover department this season, ranking 23rd in Division I with a plus-4.3 turnover margin. NDSU is averaging just 10.0 turnovers per game while creating 14.3 for its opponents.
 
 Kading Honored: Senior forward Chris Kading has been named among the nominees for the Allstate NABC Good Works Team, an annual national award that honors student-athletes for their campus involvement and community service.
 
Up at Half: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Bison are 42-1 when leading at halftime. NDSU led Illinois 39-28 at the half on Nov. 15 of this season before falling 80-74.
                The Bison have been trailing at halftime in each of their last 5 games.
 
Never Give Up: In five of their six victories this season, the Bison have overcome deficits of at least nine points.

High Level: NDSU is one of only nine mid-major programs in the country to post at least 23 victories in each of the last three seasons. Wichita State, Gonzaga, VCU, Stephen F. Austin, BYU, Louisiana Tech, Stony Brook and New Mexico State are the other eight.
 
Good Company: NDSU head coach David Richman is among the most successful coaches in the country who are under 40 years old. His .690 win percentage ranks fourth behind only Shaka Smart (Texas, .739), Mike White (Florida, .721) and Josh Pastner (Memphis, .718).
