PDF Box Score

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Senior Kory Brown and sophomore Paul Miller both scored 23 points, but the North Dakota State men's basketball team lost 79-74 to IPFW on the road Thursday evening at the Gates Sports Center.

NDSU (13-7, 3-3 Summit League) held a seven-point lead in the second half, but the Bison went scoreless for nearly six minutes late in the game, and IPFW scored 10 straight points to take the lead and claim the victory.

IPFW (16-5, 5-1 Summit) has now won nine of its last 10 games and stands in first place in The Summit League. Senior guard Max Landis led the Mastodons with 17 points. Redshirt freshman guard John Konchar finished with 10 points and 19 rebounds for IPFW.

Brown's 23 points were a new career high, topping the 21 he scored against South Dakota on Jan. 13. Miller drained a career-high five three-pointers for NDSU. Both came up short of a double-double, as Brown had nine rebounds and Miller grabbed eight.

IPFW led by as many as seven points in the first half at 22-15, but the Bison went on a 13-2 run to take a 28-24 lead with 5:30 left before halftime. NDSU held a slim 37-36 advantage at the break.

The Bison led 62-58 with seven minutes remaining in the game, but NDSU did not score again until a three-point play by Brown with 1:13 on the clock. IPFW scored 10 straight over that stretch to take a 68-62 lead.

Freshman Khy Kabellis, Miller and Brown all drained treys in the final 30 seconds to get NDSU within three at 77-74. Konchar made a pair of free throws with two seconds left to seal the Mastodon victory.

NDSU will travel to Macomb, Ill., to take on Western Illinois at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
