Amy Yang converted a penalty-kick late in the first-half and goalkeeper
Monica Polgar made a match-high six saves to guide the North Dakota State University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Oral Roberts Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Case Soccer Complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
With the win, the Bison improve to 7-5-0 overall and 2-0-0 in Summit League play, while the Golden Eagles drop to 5-7-1 on the season and 0-1-0 in league action.
Yang, a senior midfielder from St. Paul, Minn., stepped to the penalty spot in the 43rd-minute after an Oral Roberts foul in the box and converted the penalty-shot, giving the Bison a 1-0 lead just before halftime. It was Yang's fourth goal of the season.
The Golden Eagles attempted to equalize the match in the second-half, but Polgar stopped all five shots on goal to secure the Bison triumph.
Polgar, a freshman from Cupertino, Calif., earned her team-high fifth shutout of the season and improved to 7-5-0 between the pipes after surrendering no goals in 90 minutes.
North Dakota State is scheduled to travel to Vermillion, S.D., on Friday, Oct. 7, for a Summit League match at the University of South Dakota. First kick is slated for 3 p.m.
