The Bison will be the number one seed and host The Summit League Women's Soccer Championship beginning Thursday, Nov. 3, at Dacotah Field. North Dakota State will face fourth-seeded Oral Roberts Thursday at noon in its first tournament contest.
After both teams battled to a scoreless draw at halftime, the Bison struck in the second-half. Sophomore
Britney Monteon netted what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 73rd-minute. The Blaine, Minn., native took a feed from fellow sophomore
Holly Enderle and dribbled down the right side of the field before firing a shot from close range into the left corner of the goal, giving NDSU a 1-0 lead. It was Monteon's second goal of the season and Enderle's second assist.
NDSU didn't waste much time adding to its advantage, as senior
Lizzie Lukas corralled a bad clearance from IUPUI goalkeeper Catherine Schmidt and placed her shot into the back of the net six minutes later, increasing the North Dakota State lead to 2-0. It was Lukas' fourth goal of the season.
The NDSU defense took over the remaining 11 minutes and didn't allow an IUPUI shot to secure the victory.
The Bison outshot the Jaguars in the match, 17-7, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper
Monica Polgar collected her team and Summit League-best sixth shutout of the season after going the full 90 minutes between the posts and allowing no goals while making one save. Polgar finishes the regular season at 9-7-0 in-goal.
Catherine Raster tallied three shots and one shot on goal to pace IUPUI.
Schmidt suffered the loss between the pipes for IUPU after giving up two goals and making a match-high six saves to end her season at 6-6-3.
