SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The North Dakota State University women's basketball team fell to Cal Poly, 73-46, in the opening game of the Cal Poly #ShareSLO Beach Classic on Friday, Nov. 25, at the Mott Athletics Center in San Luis Obispo, California.
With the loss, NDSU drops to 1-4 overall while Cal Poly improves to 2-3.
Junior
Taylor Thunstedt led the Bison with 13 points, while senior
Emily Spier scored eight points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
For the game, NDSU shot just 25 percent from the field and three-point range, and committed 25 turnovers which led to 30 Cal Poly points. The Bison outrebounded the Mustangs, 45-44, but were outscored in the paint, 40-18.
Cal Poly's Hannah Gilbert tallied 29 points on 14-of-16 shooting from the field to lead all scorers.
The Mustangs shot 46 percent from the floor in the contest.
North Dakota State is scheduled to close out play in the Cal Poly #ShareSLO Beach Classic on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. CT (11 a.m. PT) against Central Michigan.
