MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee Panthers outscored the North Dakota State University women's basketball team in the fourth quarter, 20-13, to lift them to a 79-74 win over the Bison on Saturday, Dec. 3, in front of 552 spectators at the Klotcsche Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The Bison (1-7) led the Panthers (6-1), 68-61, after an
Emily Spier jumper with 7:33 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Milwaukee put together a 9-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 70-68 lead after a jump shot from Jenny Lindner with 3:13 to go in the stanza.
NDSU tied the game twice in the final three minutes before another jumper from Lindner gave the Panthers the lead for good with 2:03 remaining.
Junior
Taylor Thunstedt scored 23 points and matched her career-high with seven three-pointers to lead North Dakota State, while freshman
Reilly Jacobson netted a season-best 11 points and snagged a team-high nine rebounds. Spier also pulled down a team-best nine boards in the contest and scored 10 points.
Freshmen
Sarah Jacobson and
Tyrah Spencer each dished out a season-high six assists.
The Bison shot 43 percent from the field and went a season-best 55 percent from three-point range, converting 11-of-20 treys.
NDSU and Milwaukee both pulled down 38 rebounds, but the Panthers outscored the Bison in the paint, 52-26, and had seven blocks in the game.
Steph Kostowicz and Lindner each netted a game-high 26 points to pace Milwaukee.
North Dakota State closes out its two-game road trip with a contest at Oakland (Mich.) on Monday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. CT (7 p.m. ET).
