PDF Box ScoreFARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team earned a 63-54 victory over Western Illinois in Summit League action Wednesday evening at Scheels Arena.
NDSU improved to 17-10 overall and 7-6 in The Summit League with the victory. Western Illinois fell to 9-15 overall and 2-11 in league games.
The Bison led 31-27 at halftime, but put together a 10-3 run to take a 43-33 lead with just over 15 minutes left in the game.
Kory Brown and
Malik Clements hit consecutive jumpers to start the NDSU run, then
Khy Kabellis and Clements drained three-pointers to cap it.
NDSU survived a scoreless stretch of more than five minutes midway through the second half, but the Bison still led 50-41 after a jumper by
Dylan Miller ended the skid with 6:39 to play.
Brown led NDSU with 15 points, four steals and three assists. Sophomore
A.J. Jacobson scored 14, and junior
Dexter Werner finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Bison shot 43 percent for the game and made 6-of-14 attempts from three-point range.
WIU's Garret Covington led all players with 21 points for the Leathernecks.
NDSU is now 11-1 at home this season and 49-3 in Fargo since the start of the 2012-13 season.
The Bison will host IUPUI for Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 20. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m., following the NDSU women's game at Scheels Arena at 1 p.m.
