Jacobson, Brown Power NDSU to 63-59 Victory over IUPUI on Senior Day

FARGO, N.D. – Sophomore A.J. Jacobson scored 17 points, and senior Kory Brown finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and three blocks to lift the North Dakota State men's basketball team to a 63-59 win over IUPUI on Saturday afternoon at Scheels Arena.
 
It was the home finale for NDSU, which finished the year 12-1 in Fargo. With the victory, the Bison (18-10 overall, 8-6 Summit League) pulled into a tie for fourth place in the league standings with IUPUI (12-17, 8-6).
 
Junior Carlin Dupree added 12 points, five rebounds and two steals for NDSU. Darell Combs scored 21 for IUPUI to lead all players.
 
The Bison shot 42 percent from the floor and held IUPUI to 36-percent shooting.
 
NDSU led 27-23 at halftime. The Bison went ahead by as many as 15 points following a three-point play by Brown that made it 53-38 with 8:50 to play.
 
The Jaguars responded with a 12-0 run that cut the Bison lead to three at 53-50 with five minutes remaining. NDSU held a 58-56 advantage after a bucket by Combs with 1:29 to play.
 
In the game's final minute, NDSU got two crucial steals from Dupree, single free throws from Brown, Khy Kabellis and Jacobson, and two final free throws from Dupree to seal the victory.
 
When Jacobson missed his second free throw attempt with the Bison leading 61-59 and six seconds remaining, Brown skied and ripped down the offensive board, earning the pair of free throws for Dupree to ice the game.
 
NDSU finished its two-year stay at Scheels Arena with a 26-1 home record. The Bison will move into the brand new Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex to open the 2016-17 season.
 
NDSU will conclude the regular season on the road, playing at South Dakota State on Feb. 25 and at Denver on Feb. 27.
