BROOKINGS, S.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team took a lead early in the second half at South Dakota State, but the Jackrabbits rallied to earn a 71-59 victory over NDSU on Thursday evening at Frost Arena.
 
South Dakota State (22-7 overall, 11-4 Summit) was led by 20 points from redshirt freshman Mike Daum.
 
Sophomore A.J. Jacobson scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead NDSU, and junior guard Carlin Dupree added a career-best 17 points for the Bison.
 
NDSU (18-11 overall, 8-7 Summit) made only 5-of-21 attempts from three-point range in the game.
 
NDSU held a 35-31 lead less than two minutes into the second half. South Dakota State battled back to take a 40-37 lead on a three-pointer by George Marshall with 14:06 remaining, and the Jackrabbits never trailed the rest of the way.
 
The Bison pulled within three at 54-51 following a tip-in by Dexter Werner and a pair of free throws from Jacobson with 5:53 remaining. SDSU responded with a 9-1 run to pull away.
 
Marshall finished with 15 points. SDSU made 19-of-23 free throw attempts.
 
Dupree and Jacobson played all 40 minutes for NDSU, as sophomore guard Paul Miller missed his sixth straight game with a knee injury and freshman point guard Khy Kabellis missed his first game of the season.
 
NDSU will conclude the regular season with a game at Denver on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT / 4 p.m. MT on ROOT Sports.
