Bison Grab 67-63 Win over Oral Roberts

FARGO, N.D. – Sophomore A.J. Jacobson scored a season-high 20 points to lead the North Dakota State University men's basketball team to a 67-63 victory over Oral Roberts in Summit League action Thursday evening.
NDSU (15-8, 5-4 Summit) trailed by six at 57-51 with six minutes remaining in the game, but the Bison closed the contest with a 16-6 run to pull out the win.
Sophomore Malik Clements scored 14 points for the Bison – his highest total since scoring 15 at Arkansas State on Dec. 4. Senior guard Kory Brown added 12 points without missing a shot, and senior forward Chris Kading pulled down a season-best eight rebounds.
ORU (11-13, 3-7 Summit) was led by 20 points from senior guard Obi Emegano. The Golden Eagles shot 49 percent for the game, but NDSU shot 51 percent from the field.
NDSU took the lead at 60-59 on a layup by Clements with 2:22 left, but Oral Roberts took it back with a jumper by Emegano that made it 61-60. On the next possession, NDSU's Dexter Werner drove the baseline and converted an acrobatic shot in traffic to regain the lead at 62-61 with 1:15 on the clock.
Brown deflected a pass and created a steal on the following Oral Roberts possession, and then the senior drove and scored on a floater to give the Bison a 3-point advantage. The Golden Eagles pulled within one on a tip-in by Albert Owens that made it 64-63 with 18 seconds left, but NDSU got a free throw from Brown and a layup from Clements to seal the victory in the final seconds.
Jacobson shot 7-for-11 in the game, including connecting on four three-pointers for the second time this season. Freshman point guard Khy Kabellis recorded five assists for NDSU.
Oral Roberts led for 18 of the first 20 minutes and held a 32-30 advantage at halftime.
NDSU is 9-1 at home this season.
The Bison host IPFW on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Scheels Arena.
