St. Bonaventure Edges North Dakota State, 2-0

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - St. Bonaventure scored on a passed ball in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the eighth to beat North Dakota State 2-0 in the Snowbird Baseball Classic on Sunday, March 6.

Designated hitter Taylor Sanders went 2-for-4 to lead North Dakota State (8-3).  Left fielder Danny Regan and right fielder Ben Petersen each had base hits for the Bison, who went 2-2 on the weekend.

Freshman starting pitcher Blake Tritch dropped to 0-1 with the loss.  Tritch allowed one unearned run on three hits with one walk and one strikeout in 3 2/3 innings before leaving with an injury.  Dalton England and Jordan Harms each threw 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

North Dakota State put three runners in scoring position and stranded seven men on base.  Regan hit a one-out single in the seventh and advanced to third on a stolen base and groundout before an infield pop-up ended the threat.

St. Bonaventure starter Aaron Phillips worked seven innings and improved to 2-0 with the win allowing two walks and striking out three.  Closer Reid Van Woert retired six straight for his third save of the season.

North Dakota State returns to Florida for its next four games beginning Friday, March 11.  The Bison will face Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Michigan State and Army on the five-day trip.
