Central Michigan Tops NDSU Baseball Friday in Snowbird Baseball Classic

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Central Michigan University Chippewas defeated the North Dakota State University baseball team, 11-4, in the Snowbird Baseball Classic on Friday, March 11, at North Charlotte Regional Park in Port Charlotte.

NDSU (8-4) is scheduled to continue play in the Snowbird Baseball Classic with a game against Western Michigan at 10 a.m. ET (9 a.m. CT) on Saturday, March 12.

Brayden Resch paced the Bison at the plate, going 4-of-5 with a pair of RBIs and one run scored.

LHP Zach Mayo (0-1) took the loss on the mound for North Dakota State after surrendering six earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

The Bison took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning after Resch singled up the middle, moved to second on Mason Pierzchalski's sacrifice bunt, and scored on Taylor Sanders' RBI single to left field.

The Chippewas responded in the bottom-half of the inning, though, plating six runs on six hits to gain a 6-1 advantage.

NDSU cut the deficit to 6-3 with two runs in the top of the seventh on Resch's two RBI single up the middle, but Central Michigan scored one run in the bottom-half of the frame and added four in the bottom of the eighth to seal the victory.

Daniel Jipping led CMU in the batter's box, going 3-of-4 with a three-run homer, four RBIs, and a run scored.

Central Michigan's Nick Deeg (1-3) earned his first win of the season after allowing three earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in 6.1 innings.
