AT GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY: Was a two-year starter and letterwinner at shortstop ... Played in 40 games his sophomore and freshman years and hit .270 both years.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coach Joel Swanson and Shanley High School where he was a four-year letterwinner and starter ... Two-time all-conference and all-state selection ... Was a member of the state runner-up team as a senior ... Selected team MVP as a junior and won a Gold Glove award as a freshman ... Played summer baseball for the Weyburn Beavers and hit .270 ... Also played hockey and football ... Team captain for hockey, baseball and football teams. 

PERSONAL: Son of Ronald Salentine and Patricia Nystrom ... Has two brothers, Jake and Max, and two sisters, Mia and Maddi ... Plans to major in crop and weed sciences at NDSU.
