TUSCALOOSA, Ala.--
Jacquelyn Sertic pitched her first career no-hitter and two players went 4-for-4 as North Dakota State University blanked DePaul University 18-0 in five innings Sunday, March 6, during the final day of the Alabama Easton Crimson Classic played at Rhoads Stadium. The Bison finished the tournament with a 4-1 record.
NDSU (11-8) is scheduled to play No. 22/24 Baylor University at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, in the opening game of the Hawai'i Swing Fling in Honolulu.
Sertic, a sophomore right-hander from Sparks, Nev., faced 16 batters with four strikeouts and one walk. She recorded the 30th no-hitter in program history. Sertic (7-2) completed the tournament with a 3-0 record, allowing only three runs in 20 innings pitched.
The NDSU offense generated 13 hits including three home runs.
Cheyenne Garcia hit a two-run homer in the first inning and
Logan Moreland followed with a three-run shot in the third. Both Garcia and Moreland homered for the first time this season.
Maritza Lopez-Portillo closed out the scoring and a 4-for-4 day at the plate with a two-run home run in the fourth. Lopez-Portillo finished with a career-high six RBI, two runs scored and a double.
Jackie Stifter went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, four RBI, a double and a triple.
Zoe Stavrou and Moreland each finished with two hits.
