Logan Moreland hit a home run for the fourth straight game as North Dakota State University defeated IUPUI 9-1 in five innings on Sunday, April 3, to complete a Summit League softball series sweep. Â Â

The doubleheader between NDSU (21-12, 3-0 SL) and Wisconsin scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, in Madison has been postponed. The makeup date will be announced this week. The Bison are scheduled to host IPFW (10-25, 1-4 SL) in a three-game series on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10.

North Dakota State struck in the top of the first inning. Moreland singled,
Cheyenne Garcia doubled and
Zoe Stavrou walked to load the bases.
Jackie Stifter was hit by pitch to push across the run. Stifter was plunked for the 11th time this season to set a new NDSU single-season record.

Moreland, a senior from Woodland, Calif., hit a three-run home run in the second inning to put the Bison ahead 4-0. She has hit a home run in each of her last four games. Moreland has a team-high six on the season and 21 in her career. She finished the three-game series hitting .667 (8x12) with nine RBI, seven runs scored and four stolen bases.

NDSU freshman
Julia Luciano hit a two-run home run in the third inning to extend the lead to 6-0. It was the first collegiate home run for Luciano.

The Bison scored twice with two outs in the top of the fourth inning. Garcia singled and
Alyssa Reina walked. Both were sent home on a two-base IUPUI error.

IUPUI (10-21, 0-5 SL) averted the shutout when Ali Mosier hit a solo home run to center.

North Dakota State close out the scoring with a run in the top of the fifth.
Jenna Isbel reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and scored on a throwing error.

Maritza Lopez-Portillo, Moreland and Garcia combined for six of the nine Bison hits.

Jacquelyn Sertic (15-5) struck out six, allowed three hits and issued no walks in recording the win. Kaitlynn Moody (2-7) and Nickole Finch pitched for IUPUI with Moody picking up the loss. The pair combined to strike out six and walk four.
