FARGO, N.D. – The Omaha Mavericks defeated the North Dakota State University baseball team, 6-0, in the first game of a three-game Summit League series in front of 343 spectators at Newman Outdoor Field on Friday, May 6.
With the loss, NDSU falls to 25-20 overall and 9-13 in Summit League play, while Omaha improves to 23-21 on the season and 13-9 in league action.
Sophomore
Drew Fearing went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead North Dakota State.
Left-hander
Blake Stockert (2-4) suffered the loss on the mound for the Bison after allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits in four innings with four strikeouts and one walk.
Third baseman Clayton Taylor led the Mavs in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBIs, a double and home run.
UNO right-hander Tyler Fox (9-2) pitched a complete game shutout to earn the win on the mound, allowing no earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
North Dakota State and Omaha are scheduled to continue the series with a contest at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at Newman Outdoor Field.
