FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University senior distance runner
Erin Teschuk has been named to the Academic All-America® team in Division I women's track & field and cross country, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Friday. She becomes the 14th NDSU women's track & field athlete to earn Academic All-America® honors. Those 14 student-athletes earned 26 awards.
Teschuk, a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, owns a 3.72 cumulative grade point average with a major in psychology. She plans to run the steeplechase at the Canadian Olympic Trials in Edmonton, Alberta, on July 8.
Teschuk earned her seventh career first-team All-America honor, placing eighth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase on June 11 at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. She recorded a season-best time of 9:56.71.
The top eight finishers in each event at the NCAA Championships earn first-team All-America recognition. Teschuk concludes her collegiate career with four first-team All-America honors in indoor track, two in outdoor track, and one in cross country – the most by any athlete in NDSU's Division I era. She placed fifth at the NCAA Championships in the steeplechase last season.
Teschuk won her second straight Summit League championship in cross country and also captured the Midwest Region individual title. In indoor track, she was the league champion in the mile and 3,000m. For the outdoor season, Teschuk owns the third-fastest time in the NCAA in the 5,000m (15:41) and the 11th-fastest in the 1500m (4:15.30).
Teschuk has claimed the last six Summit League Athlete of the Year awards across indoor track, outdoor track and cross country. She owns the Olympic qualifying standard in the 3,000m steeplechase. Teschuk concluded her collegiate track career as the NDSU school record holder in seven events.
