GREELEY, Colo. — Kortney Lockey connected for 27 kills and recorded 16 digs to lead Northern Colorado to a 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 27-29, 25-18, 15-12) win over North Dakota State on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Bank of Colorado Arena.
North Dakota State (0-2) is scheduled to play Saint Mary's (1-1) at 2 p.m. CT Sunday, Aug. 28, in Moby Arena in Fort Collins.

Northern Colorado (1-1) took an early 7-3 lead in the fifth set and held off the Bison down the stretch. Timarie Nymeyer had four of her 18 kills in the fifth set for the Bears. NDSU cut the lead to 13-12, but kills from Nymeyer and Ashley Guthrie closed out the set and the match

Brianna Rasmusson came up with two of her three solo blocks during key stretches. Her solo block put NDSU ahead late in the 25-23 first set win. Rasmusson's second solo block followed an
Emily Minnick kill that tied the third set 27-all in the Bison 29-27 win.

Northern Colorado rebounded from the third set loss by storming out to a 14-4 lead in the fourth and won 25-18.

Jessica Jorgensen and Emily Jorgensen each had 12 kills to lead a group of four Bison in double figures.
Emily Minnick had 11 and
Hadley Steffen finished with 10.

NDSU claimed 13 team blocks compared to eight for Northern Colorado. Miron led the Bison with eight, while Minnick came up with five and Jorgensen four. Rasmusson had 40 assists, nine digs and four kills.

Makenna Meier sparked Northern Colorado with a match-high 25 digs to lead a group of five players in double figure digs.
Emily Milligan picked up 19 digs for NDSU, while
