CEDAR FALLS, Iowa—Jaelyn Keene had match-high 16 kills, hit .560 and had five blocks as Illinois State University defeated North Dakota State University 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 29-27) during the second day of the UNI Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 17, in the McLeod Center.
NDSU (2-10) is scheduled to close out tournament play against host Northern Iowa at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.
Keene helped to pace an Illinois State offense that hit .277 overall compared to .188 for the Bison. She rallied the Redbirds from a 27-26 deficit in the third set with a kill and back-to-back service aces. Aly Dawson had 13 kills, while Jordan Weatherless had 43 assists. Courtney Pence had a match-high 23 digs.
Emily Minnick led the Bison with 10 kills, hit .310 and had a pair of blocks.
Hadley Steffen contributed nine kills and nine digs, while
Brianna Rasmusson finished with 37 assists, 11 digs, three blocks and three kills.
