Bison Lose at Fort Wayne, 77-61

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fort Wayne closed the first half with a 21-4 run to pull ahead and deal the North Dakota State men's basketball team a 77-61 loss at Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday evening.
NDSU fell to 17-9 overall and 9-4 in The Summit League, falling into a first-place tie with South Dakota. Fort Wayne improved to 18-9 overall and 7-6 in league play.
Fort Wayne senior center Brent Calhoun led all scorers with 19 points. Junior A.J. Jacobson topped the Bison with 18. Sophomore forward Dylan Miller had nine points and five rebounds for NDSU.
The Bison pulled ahead early, leading 21-12 midway through the first half. Fort Wayne responded, holding NDSU to only four points for the remainder of the half to take a 33-25 advantage into halftime.
NDSU never got closer than within seven points in the second half. After NDSU cut the deficit to 56-49 on a three-pointer by Jacobson with 6:19 remaining, Fort Wayne got eight straight points from Kason Harrell to push the margin back to 15.
It was just the fourth time in 13 conference games this season that the Bison were held under 80 points. Three of those four have been losses.
The Bison return home for Senior Day vs. Western Illinois on Saturday at 4 p.m.
