ABILENE, Texas – The Abilene Christian University Wildcats defeated the North Dakota State University baseball team, 9-1, Saturday, Feb. 25, at Crutcher Scott Field in the second game of a three-game series.
With the loss, the Bison drop to 4-2 on the season while the Wildcats improve to 2-4 overall.
Sophomore outfielder
Alec Abercrombie drove in the only run of the game for the Bison with a single, while senior outfielder
Ben Petersen hit a double.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher
Jordan Harms (0-1) took the loss on the mound for North Dakota State after allowing three runs, none earned, on two hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
After Abercrombie's RBI single in the second, ACU tied to game, 1-1, in the bottom of the third sacrifice fly off the bat of Koby Claborn.
The Wildcats took the lead for good with three unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. ACU benefitted from two Bison errors in the frame.
Abilene Christian added five runs in the eighth to balloon its lead to 9-1.
Infielder Dalon Farkas tallied two hits and two RBIs to lead ACU at the plate in the contest.
ACU starter Case Rolen (1-0) earned his first win of the season after tossing six innings and allowing one earned run on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Reliever Keaton Brewer compiled the save after throwing three scores innings.
North Dakota State wraps up its three-game series at Abilene Christian Sunday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m.
