COLUMBIA, S.C. – North Dakota State University lost 5-1 to the College of Charleston and was edge 1-0 by host South Carolina during the second day of the Gamecock Invitational played Saturday, Feb. 25, in Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field.

NDSU (3-10) is scheduled to close out tournament play against the College of Charleston (7-2) at 9 a.m. Central Time on Sunday, Feb. 26.

South Carolina (10-2) scored the game's only run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning when Makenzie Boesel stroked a RBI single to right field to score Jordyn Augustus.

North Dakota State's
Jacquelyn Sertic (2-8) limited the Gamecocks to five hits in the loss. Sertic struck out four and walked one over six innings.
Julia Luciano went 2 for 3 at the plate for the Bison.

South Carolina's Nickie Blue (5-0), who picked up the save in Friday's win, scattered three hits over seven innings. Blue struck out seven and walked two. Alyssa VanDerveer belted a pair of doubles for the Gamecocks

Trailing 1-0 in the first game, the College of Charleston took the lead in the top of the second inning on Taylor DuPree's RBI single and Yari Felix' sacrifice fly. Katie Padilla had a double and single, and Felix had two hits for the Cougars.

The Cougars widened the lead to 3-1 in the top of fourth using a Kelly Sinclair single, wild pitch and an error. The Bison committed three errors overall.

The College of Charleston tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the sixth, using a pair of errors and two hits to cross the plate.

North Dakota State scored its run in the bottom of first.
Madyson Camacho reached on an error and scored on
Montana DeCamp's double to left center.

Brittany Violette (2-0) limited NDSU to three hits, struck out seven and walked two to pick up the win.
KK Leddy (1-2) allowed eight hits, walked five and struck out three in going the distance.
