MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The North Dakota State University baseball team earned a 3-1 victory over the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers Tuesday, Feb. 28, at U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis. It was NDSU's first road win over the Golden Gophers since 2012.
With the triumph, the Bison improve to 5-3 overall while Minnesota drops to 4-2 on the season.
Junior left-handed pitcher
Blake Stockert (1-0) earned his first win of the season after throwing five scoreless innings. The Alexandria, Minn., native surrendered just three hits while striking out one and walking none.
Right-handed reliever
Kevin Folman entered with one-out in the bottom of the ninth inning and allowed one unearned run on one hit, securing his first save of 2017.
Left-hander
Chris Choles went 3 1/3 innings in relief and gave up one hit and one run, while tallying two strikeouts.
After senior catcher
Danny Palmiscno gave the Bison a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth, NDSU redshirt junior outfielder
Logan Busch hit a towering solo home run to right field to lead-off the seventh inning. It was Busch's second homer of the season. Junior infielder
Drew Fearing made it 3-0, Bison, after he plated a run on an RBI single to left field in the inning.

Matt Elsenpeter each tallied hits for NDSU in the contest.
Shortstop Terrin Vavra led Minnesota, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Nolan Burchill suffered the loss on the mound for the Golden Gophers after giving up one earned run on two hits in 4 1/3 innings with six strikeouts and one walk to fall to 0-1 on the season.
North Dakota State is scheduled to travel to Greeley, Colo., March 3-5 for a four-game series at Northern Colorado.
