DELAND, Fla. – North Dakota State shut down Manhattan 5-1, but Columbia rallied past the Bison 7-6 on Saturday, March 11, at the Stetson University Westin Invitational played at Patricia Wilson Field.

NDSU (9-14) is scheduled to close out tournament play against Colgate (1-8) at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, March 12.

Manhattan (4-7) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Briana Matazinsky doubled home Alexa Dawid. Matazinsky finished with two of the three Jasper hits.

North Dakota State gained the lead for good at 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning as
Julia Luciano delivered a two-out, two-run single.
Vanessa Anderson scored the first of her three runs again Manhattan.

Bre Beatty helped the Bison extend the lead with a pair of doubles. Her double in the fourth made it 3-1, while
Montana DeCamp and Beatty both banged out run-scoring two-base hits in the sixth inning. Beatty and DeCamp each had two hits.

Jacquelyn Sertic (7-10) clamped down after the first inning to retire 17 straight batters. Sertic struck out 12 to reach double-figure strikeouts for the fifth time this season and 11th time in her career. She issued no walks.

Madison Gott hit a two-run home run with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead Columbia (3-6) to the 7-6 win.

Gott was one of three players to hit home runs for the Lions as Taylor Troutt belted a solo homer in the second and Sommer Grzybek banged out a solo shot in the fifth. Troutt and Gott each had two hits.

North Dakota State led 2-0 in the second on a two-run double by Luciano, 4-1 on
Vanessa Anderson's two-run home run in the fifth inning, and then 6-5 on
Zoe Stavrou's two-run homer in the sixth. It was the third home run for Anderson and the team-leading sixth for Stavrou.

NDSU finished with a season-high 13 hits, while Columbia collected 11. Anderson went 3 for 4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI, while
Stephanie Soriano,
Bre Beatty and Stavrou each collected two.

KK Leddy and Sertic pitched for the Bison with Sertic picking up the loss. The pair combined to strike out four and issue no walks.

Tonia Wu (2-2) recorded the win for Columbia in relief of starter Madison Canby. Wu allowed two hits, struck out two and issued no walks, while Canby struck out four and walked one.
