WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The North Dakota State University baseball team lost to the St. Bonaventure University Bonnies, 7-3, on Sunday, March 12, in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at historic Chain of Lakes Stadium.
With the setback, the Bison fall to 7-8 on the season while the Bonnies improve to 5-5 overall.
Senior outfielder
Ben Petersen hit his team and Summit League-high sixth home run of the season, and junior
Mason Pierzchalski increased his hitting streak to 14 games with a pair of hits, including a double, to lead North Dakota State in the batter's box. Freshmen
Charley Hesse and
Nick Emanuel both recorded their first collegiate hit in the contest.
Sophomore right-hander
Jordan Harms (0-3) took the loss on the mound for NDSU after giving up five earned runs on six hits with one strikeout and one walk in four innings pitched.
St. Bonaventure pitcher Aaron Phillips went 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs, pacing the Bonnies in the batter's box. Phillips (2-0) also earned the victory on the mound for SBU after allowing two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk in seven innings of work.
North Dakota State is scheduled to continue play in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Tuesday, March 14, with a game against UMass. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT) in Winter Haven.
