FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Four different players hit home runs as North Dakota State defeated Fort Wayne by the scores of 4-1 and 8-1 in a Summit League doubleheader played Saturday, April 1.

NDSU (2-0, SL, 14-21) and Fort Wayne (0-2 SL, 7-25) are scheduled close out the three-game series at 10 a.m. CT on Sunday, April 2.

In the opener, Fort Wayne jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on Sierra Miranda's RBI single in the bottom of the second.

North Dakota State had a quick answer in the top of the third as
Julia Luciano hit the second pitch she saw for a solo home run to left field, her first of the season.

Bre Beatty broke the 1-1 deadlock with a three-run home run to left center. It was Beatty's second homer of the season.

Jacquelyn Sertic (10-15) struck out 10, scattered four hits and walked two to pick up the win. Sertic reached double-figures for the seventh time this season and 13th time in her career. She had some help on defense as catcher
Tabby Heinz picked off a runner on first in the second inning.

Bailey Benefiel (3-10) and Demitra Burns pitched for the Mastodons with Benefiel taking the loss. The pair combined to strikeout five, allow five hits and walk three.

North Dakota State took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on
Madyson Camacho's run-scoring single. A pair of two-run home runs helped the Bison extend the lead to 5-0.
Vanessa Anderson hammered her fifth homer of the season to center in the third, while
Montana DeCamp hit her fourth down the left field line in the fourth inning.

NDSU tacked on three insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Anderson doubled to center to knock in two, while Beatty hit a RBI single to center. Anderson finished 2 for 4 with four RBI, DeCamp had a pair of hits and two RBI, and Beatty added two hits.

KK Leddy (4-6) and Sertic pitched for North Dakota State with Leddy recording the win and Sertic logging her second save of the season. The pair combined to strike out four and walk two.

Olivia White (2-7) and Darby Shaw pitched for Fort Wayne with White picking up the loss. The pair combined to strike out four and walk four. Taylor Bolyard went 2 for 3 for the 'Dons.
