FARGO, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers claimed a 6-1 win over the North Dakota State University baseball team on Tuesday, April 11, in front of 504 spectators at Newman Outdoor Field.
With the loss, NDSU drops to 14-18 overall while Minnesota improves to 20-8 on the season.

Bennett Hostetler went 3-for-4 and tallied a run scored, and senior outfielder
Ben Petersen hit his fifth double of the season to lead North Dakota State at the plate.
NDSU freshman right-hander
Riley Johnson (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound after allowing two unearned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and no walks in three innings pitched.
First baseman Toby Hanson went 4-for-5 in the batter's box with two runs scored, three RBIs, a double and home run, leading the Golden Gophers offensively.
Minnesota reliever Tim Shannon (1-0) was credited with the win after allowing no hits with three strikeouts and no walks in 1 1/3 innings of relief.
North Dakota State is scheduled to begin a key three-game Summit League series against the Fort Wayne Mastodons Friday, April 14, at 6:30 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field.
