OMAHA, Neb.--Laura Roecker tossed a four-hitter and three players hit home runs as Omaha defeated North Dakota State 4-1 in a Summit League softball game played at Westside Field on Friday, May 5.
NDSU (10-6 SL, 23-29) and Omaha (5-8 SL, 14-28) close out the series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday, May 6.
Omaha jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth on Vicky Kenney's two-run home. The Mavericks extended the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth on Lizzie Noble's solo home run.
North Dakota State trimmed the deficit to 3-1 in the top of the sixth inning.
Tabby Heinz doubled and scored when
Zoe Stavrou grounded into a double play.
Nicole Warren closed out the scoring in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run. Warren went 2-for-3 to lead Omaha.
Roecker (9-14) held the Bison without a hit until the sixth inning. She struck out five, hit one batter and issued no walks.
Jacquelyn Sertic (15-21) took the loss for NDSU. Sertic struck out 10 and walked one. She reached double-figure strikeouts for the 11th time this season and 17th time in her career.
