Hanna Norman scored two goals, and sophomore goalkeeper
Monica Polgar made a career-high nine saves to help the North Dakota State University women's soccer team earn a 2-0 shutout victory over the Utah Valley Wolverines on Sunday, Sept. 17, at Dacotah Field.
Norman, a native of Hastings, Minn., netted her first goal of the season and the Bison's opening goal of the match in the 35th-minute when she slotted a header from freshman
Marian Taiwo into the back of the net.
North Dakota State (1-8-0) went into halftime with a 1-0 lead, despite being outshot by Utah Valley (3-7-0), 6-3.
Norman netted her second goal of the contest in the 79th-minute after she corralled a pass from freshman
Danielle Algera and tapped it into the lower right corner of the goal.
For the match, UVU outshot NDSU, 15-7, and posted an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Polgar (1-3-0) compiled four saves in the first-half before stopping five shots in the second-half, while allowing no goals to earn her first win and shutout of the season.
Libby Weber tallied three shots and two shots on goal to lead the Wolverines.
North Dakota State is scheduled to host the University of Jamestown Saturday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. at Dacotah Field.
