FORT WAYNE, Ind. –
Emily Halverson had a career-high 10 blocks and North Dakota State finished with a season-high 13 team blocks to defeat Fort Wayne 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-23) in a Summit League match played Sunday, Oct.7, on Arnie Ball Court.
NDSU (5-13, 3-4 SL) is scheduled to host North Dakota (12-9, 4-2 SL) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. UND hosted Denver on Sunday.
Fort Wayne (11-9, 2-4 SL) fought off NDSU 25-23 for the first set win, but the Bison controlled the tempo at the net as six players had at least one block.
Alexis Bachmeier and Halverson combined on five blocks in the match.
It was a defensive-minded match as NDSU improved to outhit Purdue Fort Wayne .116 to .077 in the match and held a commanding 13-4 advantage in team blocks. Five players finished with double-figure digs for the Bison led by
Abbi Klos' team-high 15.
Bachmeier finished strong in the fourth set and collected her fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 14 kills and14 digs.
Allie Mauch claimed 13 kills and three blocks, while Halverson had eight kills and
McKenzie Burke added seven.
Kalli Hegerle recorded 40 assists and 14 digs.
Elizabeth Furst led Purdue Fort Wayne with 15 kills. Nicole Rightonwar had 12 kills and match-high 18 digs, while Madison Jaqua added 31 assists and 13 digs.
