Denver Holds Off North Dakota State, 66-63

DENVER - Bison sophomore Tyson Ward scored 25 points, but the Denver Pioneers survived a late threat to beat North Dakota State 66-63 in Summit League men's basketball Saturday, Feb. 10, at Magness Arena.
North Dakota State missed a pair of 3-point tries in the final 10 seconds of the game and dropped to 12-14 overall and 4-7 in The Summit League with its fourth straight loss. Denver improved to 11-14 overall and 5-6 in the league.
Joe Rosga scored 26 points and Daniel Amigo added 19 points for the Pioneers, who led by as many as 13 points in the second half. DU shot 50 percent from the field while holding NDSU to 36.5 percent.
NDSU shot 8 of 25 in the first half and trailed 31-24 at the break before closing back within 36-34 early in the second half. The Bison went just 1 of 10 from the 3-point line after halftime and finished 6 of 23 from the arc while Denver went 10 of 19.
Ward grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and Paul Miller added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Bison. NDSU made 19 of 24 free throws including Ward's 7-for-7 and Deng Geu's 5-for-5.
North Dakota State returns home to face Mayville State at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, before hosting Fort Wayne in the final home game of the year at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17.
