TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles swept a Summit League doubleheader against the North Dakota State University baseball team Friday, March 30, at J.L. Johnson Stadium, winning game one, 5-2, before taking the nightcap, 6-2.
North Dakota State (11-13, 4-4 Summit League) and Oral Roberts (15-10, 6-2 Summit League) are scheduled to conclude the series with a single game Saturday, March 31, at 2 p.m.
In NDSU's 5-2 loss in game one, redshirt junior
Jayse McLean led the Bison at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run – his second of the season, two RBI and a run scored. Sophomore
Tucker Rohde added a pair of hits, respectively.
Sophomore right-hander
Riley Johnson (3-4) suffered the loss on the mound after giving up five earned runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings of work.
Cal Hernandez went 3-of-4 with two RBI and a run scored, and Noah Cummings compiled two hits, including a homer, to go along with three RBI and a run scored, leading Oral Roberts offensively.
ORU starter Josh McMinn (1-3) earned the win after surrendering two earned runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts in six innings. Closer Kyler Stout secured his Summit League-high sixth save after throwing a scoreless ninth inning.
In the Bison's 6-2 setback in the nightcap, senior
Logan Busch tallied two hits in three at bats, including a double, leading North Dakota State in the batter's box.
Sophomore
Blake Tritch (0-2) took the loss for NDSU after allowing three earned runs on six hits with two walks and one strikeout in two innings pitched.
Spencer Henson went 2-of-3 with a run scored and two RBI to pace the Golden Eagles at the plate.
Reigning Summit League pitcher of the Year Miguel Ausua (3-1) earned the victory after giving up one earned run on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts in seven innings. Brady Womacks tallied his first save of 2018 after surrendering one earned run in two innings of relief.
