GREELEY, Colo. The University of Northern Colorado Bears defeated the North Dakota State University baseball team, 9-7, Sunday, March 4, in the series finale of the four-game series at Jackson Field.
North Dakota State (6-6) is scheduled to open a three-game series at the University of Arizona Friday, March 9, at 6 p.m. MST at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Ariz.
Junior
Sean Noel compiled three hits in four at bats, while redshirt junior
Jayse McLean tallied two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs to lead the Bison offensively. Senior
Mason Pierzchalski added a pair of hits, one of which was a triple, and two RBI.
Left-hander
Mitch O'Connor (0-2) suffered the loss on the mound for NDSU after giving up five earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 2 2/3 innings of work.
Baxter Halligan went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a homer to pace Northern Colorado (6-5) at the plate.
Halligan (1-0) earned the win for the Bears after pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
