O’Brien Nets Hat-Trick as Bison Coast Past Jamestown in Exhibition Match, 8-0

FARGO, N.D. – Malley O'Brien netted a hat-trick, leading the North Dakota State University women's soccer team to an 8-0 shutout win over the University of Jamestown in an exhibition match on Sunday morning, Aug. 12, at Dacotah Field.

North Dakota State is scheduled to open the 2018 regular season at Wisconsin on Thursday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m.

O'Brien, a senior from Superior, Wis., scored a pair of goals in the first-half, and one in the second-half to complete the trifecta. Senior Holly Enderle and sophomore Marian Taiwo each earned a brace, netting two goals apiece, while Brookelyn Dew also tallied a goal, respectively.

Junior goalkeeper Monica Polgar secured the victory and shutout between the posts after making one save and surrendering no goals in 90 minutes.

North Dakota State didn't waste any time scoring, as Enderle blasted a pass from Dew into the back of the net just three minutes into the match.

Dew would score eight minutes later off a Daniella Jasper assist in the 11th minute, before O'Brien netted her first goal of the contest in the 28th minute via a pass from Enderle.

Enderle placed assists from Dew and Nicola De Pape in the back of the net in the 41st minute, prior to O'Brien scoring her second goal of the match from an Enderle feed just two minutes later, giving NDSU a 5-0 advantage going into halftime.

The Bison continued their offensive onslaught in the second-half, as O'Brien netted her third goal of the contest off Jasper's second assist of the match in the 53rd minute.

Taiwo rounded out the scoring for North Dakota State in the match, netting a goal via a Sydney Johnson assist in the 80th minute before netting an unassisted goal in the 89th minute.
