WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - The North Dakota State men's golf team had its best round of the Zach Johnson Invitational on Tuesday, as the Bison finished in a tie for fourth at the 12 team meet at Glen Oaks Country Club.
NDSU shot a 291 in the final round, as the Bison tied with Creighton for fourth with a 902. Loyola won the team title with an 888, while Valparaiso was second at 890. Valparaiso's Garrett Willis shot a 70 in the final round, as he earned medalist honors with a 215 for the three rounds. The Bison were five-under par on par five holes for the tournament, leading the field with the best average on long holes.
Andrew Israelson tied for 11th for the Bison, as he shot a 71 in the final round to finish with a 222.
Van Holmgren was just behind Israelson, shooting a 74 in the final round to finish in a tie for 16th with a 224.Â
Brock Winter shot a 75 in the final round, as he tied for 19th with a 227 for the three rounds.
Lucas Johnson had his best round of the tournament, shooting a 71 in the final round to finish in a tie for 36th with a 232. Johnson was one of three players in the field to finish three-under par on par five holes for the three rounds.
Nate Deziel rounded out the NDSU lineup, as he finished in a tie for 51st with a 236 after carding a 78 in the final round.
Playing as an individual,
Jed Baranczyk shot a 78 in the final round, as he tied for 28th with a 229.
Nate Adams was also playing as an individual, finishing in 33rd with a 230 after shooting a 74 in the final round.Â
The Bison return to action on Friday, as they participate in the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Highlands Ranch, Colo. The three-day event will be held at the Denver Golf Course at Highlands Ranch.
