Bison, Israelson Lead After Two Rounds at ODU/OBX Intercollegiate

POWELL'S POINT, N.C. - On one of the best days for golf in North Dakota State history, the Bison men's team has the lead after the first two rounds of the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate.

Along with having the team lead, the Bison have the top two players in the standings in Andrew Israelson and Van Holmgren. The Bison fired a 277 in both rounds, tied for the second best 18-hole score in school history behind the 274 the Bison shot earlier this season. NDSU has a stroke lead over host Old Dominion and a three-stroke lead over Drexel heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Israelson shot a 66 in the first round and followed it up with a 67 in the second, as he has the overall lead with a 133. Israelson had six birdies in the first round and five in the second round. At five-under on par four holes, Israelson leads the field. The 66 in the first round is tied for the sixth best round in school history. Holmgren sits just a stroke behind Israelson, as he has a 134 for the two rounds. Holmgren shot a 69 in the first round before firing a career-low 65 in the second round. His 65 is tied for the fourth lowest round in school history. Holmgren is second in the field at four-under on par four holes. Holmgren finished with 11 birdies on the day, including seven in the second round to go with an eagle on the ninth hole. Holmgren and Israelson are tied for third with 11 birdies apiece.

Lucas Johnson is tied for ninth after the first round, as he shot a career-low 68 in the second round to give him a 139 for the two rounds. Johnson had three birdies in each round, to go along with an eagle on the ninth hole. Nate Deziel is tied for 52nd with a 148. Deziel shot a 71 in the first round and a 77 in the second round. Deziel finished with four birdies on the day, including three in the first round. Brock Winter had a 73 in the opening round, but withdrew in the second round. Winter had three birdies in the opening round.

The Bison are one-under par on par four holes and 12-under par on par five holes, both leading the field. The final round begins at 7 a.m. (central) on Tuesday at the Kilmarlic Golf Club in Powell's Point, N.C.
