NDSU Moves Up Leaderboard at Ron Moore Invitational

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - For the second-straight day, the North Dakota State men's golf team shot a top-five round in school history at the Ron Moore Invitational. The Bison shot a 281 on Saturday, moving into second place after the second round.

The Bison fired a 282 in the opening round, while the 281 in the second round is the fifth best score in school history. NDSU is now two strokes behind host Denver for the lead heading into the final round. Wyoming is a stroke behind the Bison. Northern Colorado's Jack Castiglia has the individual lead with a 136 after back-to-back rounds of 68 to start the meet.

With five birdies on the day, Van Holmgren moved into a tie for second with a 137 with a 68 in the second round. Holmgren's round was the second-lowest by an NDSU player this year. Through two rounds, Holmgren is one of two players to be four-under par on par four holes. 

Andrew Israelson and Brock Winter are both tied for 10th after two rounds with a 141, as they both shot a 70 in the second round. The 70 by Winter was the lowest round of his career. Winter added five birdies on the day, as he has the fifth most over the two rounds with nine total. Winter is six-under on par five holes through the first two rounds, tied for the best score in the field. Israelson had four birdies on the day. 

Nate Deziel is tied for 24th with a round of 73 for the second-straight day. Deziel had four birdies in the second round. Lucas Johnson rounded out the NDSU lineup, as he is tied for 33rd with a 149 over the two rounds. With a 78 on Saturday, Johnson had a birdie on the first hole and an eagle on the 11th hole, one of nine players to record an eagle over the first two rounds. 

Playing as an individual, Jed Baranczyk is tied for 33rd after shooting a 77 on Saturday. Baranczyk has a 149 over the two rounds, including a birdie on the 10th hole on Saturday. Nate Adams is tied for 46th with a 157 for the two rounds. Adams had an eagle on the ninth hole, as he finished with a 76 in the second round.

The final round gets underway on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. central at the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch.
