The Game: The North Dakota State men's basketball team hosts Mayville State in the regular season home opener for the Bison at 7 p.m. Thursday inside the Scheels Center on the NDSU campus.

History vs. Mayville State: Thursday is the 37th meeting between North Dakota State and Mayville State dating back to 1906-07. NDSU leads the series 34-2 including an 87-53 win most recently in 2018. The Bison have won 25 straight in the series since the Comets' 60-58 victory in 1961-62.
Last Time vs. Mayville State: Jared Samuelson set a new NDSU single-game record with nine three-pointers to help the Bison roll to an 87-53 win over Mayville State on Feb. 13, 2018, inside the Scheels Center.
Samuelson, who led the Bison with a career-high 32 points, made 10 of 15 shots from the field, including nine of 13 attempts from downtown. The nine treys eclipsed the previous single-game record of eight, set by Lawrence Alexander in 2015.
A.J. Jacobson added 12 points and went a flawless 5-for-5 from the floor, while
Cameron Hunter netted 11 points and dished out a game-high four assists.
Tyson Ward paced North Dakota State on the glass with a game-high six rebounds.
NDSU shot 51 percent from the field and 44 percent from three-point range.
Title Talk: NDSU has won four Summit League Tournament crowns in 11 seasons as a full member of the league -- 2009, 2014, 2015 and 2019.
In 2009, 2014 and 2015, the Bison also won the regular season conference title.

Jared Samuelson entered the season ranked fourth on the NDSU career list for three-point shooting, making 43.6 percent for his career.
Cameron Hunter is ninth on the list at 41.1 percent.
Sustained Success: The Bison have a record of 282-184 (.605 win percentage) since beginning the transition to Division I in the 2004-05 season. NDSU has had only three losing seasons during that span.
Big Numbers Back: The Bison return 83 percent of their scoring and 87 percent of their minutes played from last season.
Milestones: With seven rebounds at Kansas State in the season opener, senior
Tyson Ward became the 30th Bison to record 500 career rebounds. Ward has also scored 983 points in his career, needing 17 more to become the 35th member of NDSU's 1,000-Point Club.
Taking on the Best: NDSU played the No. 1-ranked team in the nation twice last season. The Bison played at No. 1 Gonzaga on Nov. 26, and later played No. 1 Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
High-Level Shooter: Jared Samuelson shot 49 percent from three-point range in Summit League play last year. He ended the season ranked 12th among all active Division I players with a career 43.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Rejected: Rocky Kreuser registered 39 blocks last season to rank second in The Summit League.
Eady Stepped Up: Redshirt freshman
Tyree Eady shot 52.5 percent in league play last season, including 45 percent from three-point range. He ranked seventh among Summit League freshmen with 6.8 points per game in league play.

Overseas Action: Bison sophomore
Sam Griesel played for Germany's national team in the FIBA U20 European Championship in Israel this summer, averaging 5.9 points and 5.3 rebounds in seven games.
Top 3-Point Shooting League: The Summit League has been the top three-point shooting conference in all of Division I for the past three seasons. Summit League teams combined to shoot 37.5 percent from beyond the arc in the 2018-19 season, leading all conferences by more than one full percentage point.
