FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University men's track & field team has added the top high school shot putter and javelin thrower from the state of North Dakota, head coach
Don Larson and associate head coach
Justin St. Clair announced Wednesday.
Dawson Schroeder (St. John/Northern Lights HS) and Matt Kraft (Bismarck/Legacy HS) will join the Bison for the 2020 season.
Schroeder threw 59-11 in the shot put at the North Central Region meet this year for the top mark in the state in all classes. He won back-to-back Class B state championships in the shot put and finished third in the discus as a senior.
Kraft led all North Dakota high school athletes in the javelin with a mark of 194-2 this season. He claimed Class A state titles in the javelin as a sophomore in 2017 and as a senior in 2019.
The Bison men have won a combined 18 indoor and outdoor Summit League team titles since 2008, including 10 straight outdoor crowns. NDSU led Division I with six entries in the throwing events at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
