Michael Nelson each won their weight class at the Ridgewater Open on Sunday, Jan. 11, in Ridgewater Gymnasium. Overall, NDSU had five wrestlers place in the top five.
Stuhl, a redshirt freshman from Ellsworth, Wis., compiled a 3-0 record including a pair of tech falls and a major decision to claim the 149-pound title. Stuhl improved to 4-4 this season.
Nelson, a freshman from Dover, Minn., went 3-0 at the Ridgewater Open with two pins and a tech fall to extend his winning streak to seven matches and put his overall record at 10-1.
Jimmy Noel (5-3 overall, 2-1 Ridgewater Open) was runner-up at 174 pounds,
Austin Braun (4-5, 3-1) placed third at 157 pounds, and 174
Jesse Shearer (3-2, 3-1) finished fifth.
