HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Rainbow Warriors scored the final nine runs of the game Saturday, as Hawaii beat the North Dakota State baseball team 10-2.
NDSU dropped to 1-1 on the year, while the Rainbow Warriors improved to 3-1. The third game in the four game series between the two schools is set for Sunday in Honolulu. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. central time.
Calen Schwabe was 2-for-2 for the Bison, while
Brock Anderson,
Peter Brookshaw,
Jake Malec and
Tyler Silva each added a hit.
Ben Smith suffered the loss in 3.1 innings of work, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks.
Jake Drew worked 2.2 shutout innings, striking out three and allowing a hit and a walk.
Alec Holcomb gave up an earned run on two walks and a strikeout, while
Thomas Bruchu closed out the game, allowing three earned runs on three hits and a walk.
Hawaii scored first on a two-out home run by Demeter in the bottom of the first inning. NDSU tied the game in the third inning as Anderson singled through the right side to bring in Malec. The Bison took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Brookshaw that drove in Schwabe. Hawaii tied the game in the bottom half of the inning and took the lead in the fourth on a bases loaded walk that was the first of four runs in the inning. Hawaii added a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth.Â
